Introducing the AaRiss™ Drug-Coated Balloon Catheter

As interventional cardiology continues to evolve, physicians are increasingly seeking treatment options that effectively address vessel narrowing while minimizing the amount of permanent material left behind in the body. Drug-coated balloon (DCB) technology has emerged as an important tool in this approach, combining mechanical vessel dilation with localized drug delivery during a single procedure.

At InSitu Technologies, we are proud to introduce the AaRiss™ Drug-Coated Balloon Catheter, designed to deliver targeted paclitaxel therapy while maintaining excellent coating stability and transfer efficiency.

AaRiss Drug Coated Balloon

Why Drug-Coated Balloons Matter

Drug-coated balloons are designed to restore blood flow by expanding narrowed vessels while simultaneously delivering an anti-proliferative drug directly to the vessel wall. Unlike stents, drug-coated balloons do not leave a permanent implant behind, making them an attractive option in selected clinical situations. Recent clinical reviews continue to support the role of DCB technology in the treatment of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, and in-stent restenosis.

One of the key advantages of this approach is localized drug delivery. By transferring medication directly to the treatment site, physicians can help reduce the risk of restenosis—the re-narrowing of a vessel after intervention—while preserving future treatment options.

The AaRiss™ Approach

AaRiss™ incorporates the proprietary PurePac™ coating technology, developed to provide efficient drug transfer while minimizing drug loss during device tracking and balloon inflation. The coating formulation is designed to support rapid vessel-wall uptake and sustained therapeutic activity following treatment.

  • Drug: Paclitaxel anti-proliferative agent
  • Dose: 3 µg/mm² for coronary artery stenosis and 2 µg/mm² for intracranial artery stenosis
  • Coating: Pure paclitaxel, non-excipient design
  • Coating Structure: 70% crystalline and 30% amorphous composite coating

Clinical Performance

Clinical studies highlighted for AaRiss™ have demonstrated encouraging outcomes across multiple treatment applications, including coronary in-stent restenosis, coronary bifurcation lesions, and intracranial atherosclerotic stenotic lesions. Reported findings showed reductions in late lumen loss and restenosis rates while maintaining a strong safety profile.

Did You Know?
Drug-coated balloon technology is increasingly being adopted worldwide as part of a “leave nothing behind” treatment strategy, offering physicians an alternative approach in selected vascular interventions.

Looking Ahead

As cardiovascular disease continues to impact millions of patients globally, innovations that improve procedural outcomes and long-term vessel patency remain critical. AaRiss™ reflects InSitu Technologies’ commitment to supporting clinicians with advanced interventional solutions built on performance, precision, and clinical evidence.
